Lila M. McArthur, age 87, of Onaway, died at home on February 19, 2010. Lila was born on May 14, 1922 in Onaway to Gilbert and Beulah (Umphrey) Dunsmore. On August 16, 1946 she married Robert McArthur in Tower. They were married for nearly 60 years when Bob died in 2006. Lila lived most of her life in the Onaway area. Throughout her years Lila worked as a seamstress at the garment factory in Onaway, worked at the Onaway State Park, Circuit Control, and as bartender and waitress. Lila's hobby was work. She enjoyed swinging a hammer and pounding nails, fixing things, building things, and cutting firewood. Her greatest enjoyment was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lila loved taking her grandchildren to their practices, lessons, recitals, school functions, and even Dr. appointments. Lila will be sadly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Chuck Kimbrell of Onaway; grandchildren, Heather Markey of Arlington, TX, Shane Kimbrell and wife, Rachel of Cheboygan, and Misty and husband, John McKenzie of Onaway. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Katlin Kimbrell of Onaway, Regan and Griffin Markey of Arlington, TX, Luke Ward, Maggie, and Owen Kimbrell of Cheboygan, and Jordan and Jaycee McKenzie of Onaway and brother, Ron Covell of Tower. Lila is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob McArthur; son, Danny McArthur; and two brothers, Jim and Howard Dunsmore. As were her wishes, Lila was cremated. There will be a memorial service for her on Sunday February 21, 2010 at 4 pm at Joy Community Church in Onaway. Pastor Christopher Rasper will officiate. Lila's final resting place will be with her husband, Bob, and son, Danny, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tower. |
