Mildred "Millie" T. Sayers, age 68, of Afton died on January 3, 2010 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey.  Millie was born in Wayne County, Michigan on May 7, 1941 to Nelson and Margaret (Weir) Tatton.  When Millie was three years old her mother tragically died in a house fire.  Millie and her siblings were adopted and raised by Edna, affectionately known as "Ma Morris", and Mahlon Morris.

On July 6, 1963 Millie married Harvey B. Sayers in Davisburg, Michigan.  Millie worked on the Morris Family Farm and also worked with Ma Morris cooking for Holly Public Schools until 1969 when Harvey and Millie moved up north to live in Afton where Harvey had grown up.  In 1970, the first of four children was born to Millie and Harvey.  Millie then spent her time as a homemaker, caring for her children and many times babysitting for the children of family and friends.

Millie enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and drawing.  She was an avid reader, known many times to read a good novel from cover to cover without stopping.  She also loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Canada to visit family and site see.  Millie very rarely missed a family event.  She drove all over Michigan and Canada to attend parties, showers, weddings, and family reunions.  For the last few years Millie enjoyed spending winters in Wauchula, Florida and always looked forward to her children and grandchildren coming for visits during spring break.  Millie's greatest enjoyment was her children and grandchildren.  She was extremely proud of them, would do anything for them, and her face would light up when she talked about them.

Millie is survived by her husband of over 46 years, Harvey Sayers of Afton; son, Nate (Melissa) Sayers of Onaway; daughters, Lezli (Bryan) Haskill of Millersburg and Larissa "Rissi" Sayers of Afton.  Also survivng are nine grandchildren, Trey and McKena Leach of Millersburg, Devin of Petoskey, DJ, Madeline, Nicholas, and Jack Sayers of Onaway, Laine and Bayli Sayers of Afton, and baby boy, Emmit Haskill, who will be born in February.  Millie is also survived by sisters, Blanche Barber of Davisburg, Doris Tatton of Royal Oak, Lillian Hamilton of Barrie, Canada, and Marion Specht of Kettleby, Canada and brothers, Larry (Pam) Tatton of Davisburg and Jim (Billie) Morris of Holly.

Preceding Millie in death is her son, Heath (1983); her parents; brothers, Kenny Morris, Lewis Tatton, and Nelson Tatton and sisters, Dorie Mullins, Leila Losh, and Radith Walker.
