Roger Allen Freeman, age 66, of Onaway, died on Saturday March 20, 2010 at the home of his neighbors and close friends, Kathy and Mike Riley.
Roger was born on October 25, 1943 in Cheboygan to Ralph E. and Iva (Van Norman) Freeman.  
Roger operated his own business, Freeman Forest Products.  He worked logging and cutting boughs until last fall when his health forced him to retire.  Roger enjoyed his work as a forester, being in the woods, and hunting.  He was an avid gardener with a green thumb for growing vegetables and raspberries.  Roger was a member of the Indian River United Methodist Church.
Surviving Roger are his daughters, Lori Ann Guevara of Arkansas City, Kansas and Jodi Freeman (Nate Werda) of Cheboygan; grandsons, Tyler Karns of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Billy and Michael Bonnard of Onaway; brother, Mike McCreery of Ortonville; and special friends, Mike and Kathy Riley of Onaway.
Preceding Roger in death are his son, Scott Allen Freeman in 2008; infant daughter, Kimberly Freeman; sisters, Elizabeth "Hope" LeCross and Eleanor Freeman; and brothers, John and Robert Freeman (March 19, 2010)
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday March 29, 2010 at the Indian River United Methodist Church at 956 Eagles Nest Rd. in Indian River.  Pastor Gary Step will officiate.  Roger's final resting place will be in Tower at Forest Lawn Cemetery with his son, Scott.  Roger's family has suggested that donations in his memory be made to Hospice of the Straits, 761 Lafayette, Cheboygan, MI 49721 or to the Indian River United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 457, Indian River, MI 49749.
