"Joe, Daddy, Papa, Grandpa, Your Father, Old Man, The Educator, Green" of Onaway, died at Hospice House in Cheboygan on Monday June 28, 2010 at the age of 77.
Joe was born on July 11, 1932 in Paducah, Kentucky, the son of Joseph Clyde and Ola Mae (Beach) Green. He later moved to Michigan with his family. He proudly served in the United States Army, 100th Tank Battalion, 1st Armored Division of Fort Hood, Texas. Joe was a proud member of the Teamster's who retired from Signal Delivery where he worked as a truck driver for over 30 years.
Joe was an avid hunter, civil war and history aficionado, who loved to travel and visit casinos. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his six loving children, Joel C. Green, Joelynn "Jodie" C. (Dave) Necker, Janice C. Foster, Judith C. (Wayne) Budzinski, Joann C. (Daniel) Weingartz, and Jeanette C. (Gary) Hilliker; 16 grandchildren, Ron (Christy), Serena, and Joe Green, David and Erica (Doug) Necker, Russell, Daniel, and Mitchell Foster, Alexis (John), Adam, and Addie Budzinski, Isabella and Jackson Weingartz, Jessica, Holly, and Jacob Hilliker; three great grandchildren, Gavin and Jackson Green and Conner Foster; and two sisters, Genevia Longeway and Mary Lou Zentz.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Joseph C. Green, his parents, and siblings, Vada Knowlton, Betty Green, Bobbie Green, and Richard Green.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held in Joe's honor on Saturday July 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Allis Township Hall, 20019 West 638 Hwy., Onaway, Michigan.
