Robert L. Hedrick, age 66 of Onaway, formerly of Flint, died Monday April 26, 2010 at home. Bob was born on October 6, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to George L. and Dorothy Joann (Putnam) Hedrick. On August 18, 1977, Bob and Gloria J. (nee Green) Carsten were married in Davison, Michigan. In 1998, after 30 years, Bob retired from Buick Motors in Flint where he had worked on the production line. Upon his retirement, Bob and Gloria moved to Onaway. Bob was an avid sportsman, outdoors man and sports fan. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and shooting pool. His hobbies also included golfing and bowling. Bob worked the Buick Open and was a ranger at Stoney Links Golf Course in Onaway. Bob served four years in the United States Marine Corp. and was a member of American Legion Post 317 (Onaway).
Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 33 years, Gloria Hedrick of Onaway; daughters, Sheryl Conn of Fenton, Patricia Okenka, Tamara Jennings, and Bernadine (Guy) Odom, all of Flint; sons, Tyrone Hedrick of Philadelphia and Daniel Hedrick of Flint; step-son, Brian (Robin) Carsten of Wyoming; step-daughter, Tina Carsten of Harrison; and sister, Jacqueline (Robert) Leask of Higgins Lake. Bob had 23 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a memorial service for Bob on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Onaway American Legion Post, 19415 M-68 Hwy. Pastor Bob Coen, Hospice of the Straits Chaplain, will officiate.
