Alice L. Minier, age 76, of Petoskey, formerly of Onaway and Shingleton, died on March 12, 2010 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey. Alice was born in Pontiac, Michigan on October 23,1933 to A.C. and Nellie (Martin) Franks. On February 14, 1959 Alice married Floyd Minier in Fenton, Michigan. On Valentine's Day of 2010 Alice and Floyd celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Alice was a member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary in Munising, Michigan and a member of Onaway V.F.W. Post 5857 Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing and hunting. Alice also enjoyed socializing, going out for lunch and going out for coffee. Alice especially loved to go shopping. She and Floyd enjoyed traveling and had many memorable trips throughout the United States. After living in Shingleton in the Upper Peninsula for 18 years, Alice and Floyd moved to Onaway in 1990. Due to her health, Alice and Floyd moved to Petoskey three years ago so Alice could be closer to the dialysis unit. Alice made many friends in Shingleton, Onaway, and in Petoskey.
Alice is survived by her husband of 50 years, Floyd E. Minier, of Petoskey; sons, Rick and Sherry Minier of Jacksonville, North Carolina and John and Suzann Minier of Mishawaka, Indiana and several grandchildren. Also surviving are some very special friends, Kurt and Lori LaLonde, Jim and Sam LaLonde and children, Lesley and Justin, and Andrew LaLonde all of Onaway and Jessie Hannan of Petoskey. Alice was preceded in death by her son, Terry (1981); grandson, David (2000); two brothers and two sisters. |
