Ruby E. (Leonard) Preston, age 78 of Onaway, died October 26, 2008 at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital.
Ruby was born in Pontiac on July 10, 1930 to Lewis and Flora (Paul) Leonard. On July 26, 1947 she was married to Donald L. Preston in Napolean, Ohio.
Ruby retired from Lake Orion Public Schools in 1973 where she worked for many years as a school bus driver. Ruby and Don lived, worked, and raised their family in Pontiac. In 1979, after retiring and then traveling for 5 years, the couple moved back to Don's boyhood home of Onaway. Ruby was a member of the United Methodist Church in Onaway and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and crafting. Ruby also enjoyed VFW events and volunteering at the VFW. She and Don loved socializing and going dancing.
Ruby will be sadly missed by her son, Mike (Marsha) Preston of Marquette; granddaughters, Amy (Cari) Becker of Unionville, Kristy (Ronnie) Green of Goshen, Indiana, Erika (Jeff) Breault of Gladwin, and Julie Shaloy of Onaway; grandson, Michael Preston of Durango, Colorado; 8 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Ray (Susie) and Sidney (Nancy) Preston both of Onaway and Homer (Cindy) Preston of Ocqueoc; and sister-in-law, Glenda Kay Turcott of Onaway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don (March 26, 2004); son, Ronald Preston (1989); sister, Betty Spock; and brothers-in-law, Forest, Jerry, and Lyle Preston. |
