Janet Smith, age 77 of Adrian, courageously lost her battle with recently diagnosed cancer. On Wednesday morning, July 21, 2010 she died peacefully at her daughter and son-in-law's Cheboygan lake house on Black Lake where she frequently vacationed with them.
Janet was born in Detroit on November 25, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Janet (Thomson) Wright. For 24 years she worked as a switchboard operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Company where she met her husband, Francis E. Smith. She and Francis were married on September 7, 1957 in Detroit.
Janet enjoyed quilting, knitting, and playing bridge. She was active with the Stephens Ministries and the Red Hat Ladies.
Janet will be missed by her two daughters, Cathy (Mark) Miller of Tecumseh and Cheryl (Joseph) Choronzy of Sturgeon Bay, WI; six grandchildren, Allison (Justin) Bigelow of Armada, Brian (Jacklyn Turbett) Miller and Jason Miller, both of Tecumseh, Michael Choronzy of Menomonie, WI, Matthew and Christy Choronzy, both of Sturgeon Bay, WI; a sister, Elizabeth (Ernest) Andre of Harrisville. She was preceded in death by her husband Francis E. Smith and her parents.
