Margaret M. ZurHorst, age 92, of Onaway died on June 30, 2010 at Tendercare Health Center in Rogers City. Margaret was born on July 16, 1917 in Pellston, Michigan, the daughter of Calvin and Bessie (Schroeder) Gillett. On May 5, 1939 Margaret married Fred ZurHorst in Pellston.
Margaret was a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress for many years at the Northern Garment Factory in Onaway. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, gardening, and cooking. She was well-known for her homemade bread and jam. Margaret had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing cribbage.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Shirley Crowe of Onaway; grandson, Rick (Vanessa) Crowe of Quincy, IL; granddaughter, Jessie Palmer of Onaway; great granddaughter, Chelsea Crowe of Decatur, IL; great grandsons, Duane Crowe of Quincy, IL and Travis (Crystal) Horrocks of Onaway; and great great granddaughter, Clara Jane Horrocks of Onaway.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Fred (April 1976); son-in-law, Ruell Crowe; two brothers, and nine sisters.
A graveside service will be held on Friday July 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Waverly Township Cemetery in Onaway. Elder Jim Morgan will officiate. Donations in memory of Margaret should be made to the Onaway Ambulance Equipment Fund. |
