Obituary for Patricia Elaine Price

Remembering our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Patricia Price.

Patricia Elaine Petersen was born in her parent’s home at the end of South 3rd Street, Onaway, Michigan on August 20th 1924. Patricia was the youngest of eight children born to George B. and Ellen Porter Petersen. Being the youngest in the family she was affectionately called Babe by her family and many friends - a name that would stay with her for the rest of her life. Patricia graduated in 1942 from Onaway high School and after a couple years at County Normal teacher’s training she began her teaching career at the Shaloy School south of Onaway. Patricia taught there for a few years as World War II came to a close. On February 16, 1946 she married Norman C. Price in Onaway. Together Norm and Pat built a home, raised their children, and were wonderful grandparents when their grandchildren came along.
Simple pleasures and family was what was most important to them. They took many trips to
the Upper Peninsula and Canada with Norm’s brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Lois Price,
and enjoyed many fun times together.

Thanksgivings were special holidays when the family would gather around from near and far.
Not only did the immediate family come, but many friends would stop in over the holiday
weekend for a bite to eat or a game of cards. Pat was a terrible card player because she
couldn’t bluff with a straight face and she would feel bad if somebody lost. It was like a
three ring circus with all the laughter! Pat always wanted to make sure no one ever went
away hungry and everyone had their favorite pie to choose. One particular year she made 18
pies for Thanksgiving! The grandchildren have fond memories of coming to Grandma’s and
getting into the cookie jar. They were never disappointed as she always had some of her
peanut butter chocolate chip cookies in there. Pat had a great sense of humor and was often
known to do some very funny things from time to time - sometimes on purpose, sometimes
unintentionally. More likely than not she was accompanied by her dear friends Claris Robinson
and Eva Gilbert. Those golden girls shared a lot together. Precious memories we all cherish
now.

Patricia has been a member of the Onaway Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 80 years.
She has served the Lord in many capacities over the years, most importantly being a
wonderful example of faith and love to those around her. After 41 years of marriage, Norm
passed away on October 22, 1987. Pat was also preceded in death by five sisters and two
brothers - Arthur Petersen, Grace Kinch, Edith Johnston, Bessie DeBolt, Stan Petersen, Alice
Roth, Ina Loder, and their spouses. Patricia is also survived by her four children - Brenda
(Chuck) Brower, Jill Jackson, Kim (Mike)Tribisondi and Ron (Kathy) Price - seven
grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well
as some “adopted kids” who made their way into her life over the years. Words cannot
express our gratitude and joy at having such a wonderful person in our lives. Whatever you
called her - Mom, Grandma, Aunt Babe, Aunt Pat, Grandma next door, Grandma Great, Grams - she loved each and every one. Everyone was welcome! She was the best! Special thanks to our cousins, Marv and Cheryl Lemmon, for all you did for Mom over the years and the staff at Medilodge for their care and thoughtfulness in her final days.
