Obituary for Pauline D. Schoolcraft

Pauline D. Schoolcraft, age 71, of Afton, died at home on Tuesday November 5, 2019. The daughter of Harold and Bessie (Bailey) Stafford, Pauline was born in Tempe, Arizona on June 30, 1948. When Pauline was 14 years old her family moved to Northern Michigan where she met Maylon Schoolcraft. Maylon and Pauline were married at the Onaway 7th Day Adventist Church on September 25, 1966 and made their home in Onaway before moving to Afton.

A devoted wife and loving mother, Pauline enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. Her passion was spending time with her family whether it was with Maylon fishing from the banks of Crumley Creek, having a big family picnic in the summertime, or just being at home with her kids and grandchildren. Pauline always said her favorite hobby was her kids and grandkids. A private person who was content with life’s simple pleasures, she enjoyed going for rides through the woods on remote two-track roads looking for deer and other wild life. Pauline’s cheerful disposition, her warm smile, and most of all, the love for her family will be fondly remembered.

Surviving Pauline is her husband of 53 years, Maylon Schoolcraft of Afton; daughters, Tina (Dale) Joles of Indian River, Lorie (Devin) Emmett of Topinabee, Amie (Cliff) Coloff of Cheboygan, Melissa (DL) Schopp of Tower, and Heather (Luke) Preston of Millersburg; son, Brian Schoolcraft of Afton; as well as six grandchildren, Symon, Spencer, Kaylee, Collin, Jordan, and Emma; and great granddaughter, Gracie. Pauline also leaves her brother, Donald Stafford of Houghton Lake and two sisters, Heidi Reif of Cheboygan and Elaine Thompson of Topinabee. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harold Stafford.

Cremation arrangements are in care of the Chagnon Funeral Home. Pauline’s family will receive friends at the Onaway 7th Day Adventist Church, 21440 M-68 Hwy., on Sunday November 10, 2019 from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. Pastor Michael Szynkowski will officiate. Pauline’s final resting place will be in Afton at Walker Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy please consider a donation in memory of Pauline to her family to help with expenses.
